What is the prerequisite for the coming of King Moshiach?
There is two things that must happen before Moshiach can come and set up the Messianic Kingdom (Also known as the Messianic Era):
1. Israel must confess their national sin.
2. Israel must plead for their Messiah (Baruch haba b'shem Adonai).
A few questions may arise by pointing out these two things:
1. What is the national sin of Israel?
2. When did this national sin occur?
3. Isn't Israel already pleading for "Moshiach, now"?
4. How will all of this come about?
Before we can answer the previous questions, we will need to look at G-d's promises (covenants) to Israel. There are four unconditional, unfulfilled covenants made between G-d and Israel. At this point, we will only look at the first three. We will look at the fourth unconditional covenant later on.
The following three covenants are:
1. The Abrahamic Covenant
2. The Land Covenant (Known as the Palestinian Covenant)
3. The Davidic Covenant
Because there is much that can be said about these covenants, we won't spend a great detail of time on them. The point of this discussion is to answer the subject question (What is the prerequisite for the coming of King Moshiach?). It is of great importance to mention these covenants, because their fulfillment will come about, by G-d, during the Messianic Era (The fulfillment of these covenants will only happen when King Moshiach comes and set's up His Messianic Kingdom).
The Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12:1-3, 7; 13:14-17; 15:1-21; 17:1-21; 22:15-18) can be narrowed down to three major aspects:
1. The Land (Further detailed in the Palestinian Covenant)
2. The Seed (Further expounded in the Davidic Covenant)
3. The Blessing (Further expressed in the "Fourth" Covenant)
Circumcision is the sign or token for the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 17:10-14).
The Land (Palestinian) Covenant (Deuteronomy 29:1-30:20) is distinct from the Mosaic Covenant, as pointed out in Deut. 29:1.
